Ms. Laurie Westock
Pre-Algebra, Computer and Physical Education Teacher
Pre-Algebra is a terrific year of math. Students will be challenged to build upon their previous knowledge and math skills while expanding their abstract thinking. Topics covered include Number Theory, Probability and Statistics, Geometry and Measurement, Polynomials and Rational Expressions, Linear and Quadratic Relations.
The Computer Lab was updated this summer and we now have 26 beautiful new computers, a new server, and an interactive projector in September! Kindergarten through Second grade focus on a basic understanding of computer functions and becoming familiar with the keyboard and mouse manipulation. Projects include Powerpoint presentations and creating publications on Publisher. Third grade through fifth grade expand upon their basic computer knowledge. Students learn keyboarding, web searching and research skills and basic graphics, just to name a few. Projects include Powerpoint presentations, creating publications on Publisher, and basic Excel spreadsheets. Sixth through Eight grade also build upon their knowledge, however they integrate many of their projects with other classes. In particular, students learn intermediate Excel spreadsheets and charts as well as Access databases for their Science Fair projects.
The P.E. equipment also received an upgrade at the end of the 2012-2013 school year. In particular, we now have soft hockey sticks, volleyball, gymnastics mats, golf, and an obstacle course! Our program focuses on an active lifestyle and good nutrition.
I would like to personally thank the PTO for their support in updating both the Computer Lab and PE Equipment! Thank you!
