Middle School Language and Arts / Literature
I am excited to have the opportunity to teach at Queen of Apostles, where I attended from kindergarten through eighth grade. I am thrilled to once again be an eagle! I am a graduate of Bishop Ireton High School and am proud to say that I was there when the school admitted girls. My graduating class was the second coed class to graduate from Bishop Ireton.
I have a high school teaching background. For seven years I taught freshman English and journalism (sophomores, juniors, and seniors) at Paul VI Catholic High School. I also advised the production of the award-winning school newspaper, The Panther Press.
In Language Arts here, students will gain a more comprehensive understanding of English grammar and will apply this when writing. They will use correct spelling, write legibly, locate information in reference sources, utilize study skills, and explore the uses of available technology in the Language Arts program.
In Literature the students will read, discuss, and develop critical thinking skills through the analysis of various forms of literature through the use of the literature textbook as well as various novels to be determined based on the Catholic Diocese of Arlington guidelines. Detailed information, including the title and author of the selected novels, will be announced in class and on Edmodo well before we are due to begin the reading.
