6th Grade Teacher

This year in Science we will be using our skills as scientists by learning how to observe, hypothesize analyze, measure, imagine and appreciate God’s creation all around us.  In sixth, seventh, and eighth grade we will apply these skills to areas of chemistry, physics, biology and earth science with high-grade lab equipment.  Lectures, hands-on experiments, and discussions are sure to make memorable impressions in the minds of our students each week.

Also, our Science Fair is an exciting opportunity for students to apply the scientific method to conduct independent research and investigations. Queen of Apostles School participates and competes with other schools in the Annual Diocesan Science Fair. Our society relies more on science every day, and science fairs are a great way for students to become more knowledgeable about how the world around them works.  Students will share their project and results in the form of a report, display board, and/or any models they have created.  As a teacher I especially like to emphasize the importance of understanding theory first before carrying out practical lab work.

It is my goal to motivate students to start thinking more like scientists every day. Teaching the nature of science goes beyond the simplistic scientific method – it seeks to portray science more authentically as a creative, social process of understanding the natural world.
