Queen of Apostles PTO Fundraising

 

One of the purposes of the Queen of Apostles Catholic School Parent-Teacher Organization is to organize volunteers for designated school needs and sponsor and organize fundraising activities to supplement Queen of Apostles Catholic School’s financial needs as defined by the Pastor or Principal.

As a non-profit organization, and in order to keep tuition affordable for our families, Queen of Apostles Catholic School relies heavily on fundraising by the PTO to support our school.  The PTO raises funds each year through a wide variety of events and other initiatives.   Funds raised are used to give our teachers the tools they need to create a rich learning environment, add and update technologies throughout the school, update and increase our library resources, fund field trips and assemblies, provide every student an opportunity to participate in sports and after-school clubs, offer before- and after-school student care and the general improvements of the facility and grounds.  The PTO also plans and sponsors family and school socials that bring families, faculty, friends and the community together.

 

What Does the PTO Budget Cover?

The PTO funds many QofA programs and events throughout the year that would not be possible without the contribution of your time, resources, and your prayers to our many fundraising efforts.  Programs the PTO supports include, but are not limited to:

Thank you to everyone who generously supported PTO fundraisers during the 2015-2016 school year.  Funds raised in 2015-2016 were spent throughout the school year AND this summer the PTO funded the purchase of:

  • two new portable interactive high-definition, collaborative smartboards,
  • private-channel Walkie-talkies that can be used throughout the school and church grounds,
  • an Automatic External Defibrillator,
  • new directional signage,
  • renewals for school subscriptions and websites, and
  • new classroom materials for each faculty member.

What a way to start the new school year!

 

How Can You Support the PTO 2016-2017 Fundraising Goals?

The easiest way to help raise money for Queen of Apostles is by linking your grocery and retail bonus cards to our school.  Doing so is an easy, yet extraordinarily significant, way to earn needed funds for our school.  During the 2015-2016 school year, these programs resulted in over $11,649.07 donated to our school.  Companies offering these fundraising programs donate a percentage of your total purchases to our school.  These programs are offered at no cost to Queen of Apostles Catholic School, the PTO or you.  None of your personal information or shopping habits are shared with any third party, including members of our school administration or PTO.  After you have registered and linked your shopping to our school, please share this information and ask all your family members and friends without school-age children to enroll in these programs as well.  Please see the information below, and you may print the Passive Fundrasing Handout.

Amazon Smile:  Link your Amazon shopping to QofA and the PTO will automatically receive 0.5% of the purchase price of qualifying items.  This in no way impacts the price of the item or any discounts offered.  None of your personal information or shopping habits is shared with any third party, including the school or PTO.  AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you know.  Same products, same prices, same service.  Please go to smile.amazon.com to get started.  When selecting your charity, enter “Queen of Apostles School”.

Box Tops for Education:  The PTO participates in General Mills’ Box Tops for Education Program.  Clip Box Tops from hundreds of General Mills products and have your child(ren) bring them to school.  Each classroom has a Box Tops collection pouch or they may place them in the Box Top Box next to the school office.  Each Box Top earns 10¢.  In 2015/2016 the PTO raised almost $550 in Box Tops.  Our 2016/2017 goal is $1,500.  Click here for a list of all General Mills products with a Box Top for Education label.  You may turn them in individually or your child may prefer to attach them to a collection sheet.

Evergreen FundraiserQueen of Apostles has partnered with Mickman Brothers, a family-owned company in Minnesota to offer beautiful evergreen wreaths and sprays, centerpieces and indoor evergreen trees for the holiday season.  This is a zero-cost fundraiser as Mickman Brothers provides all the publicity materials needed to advertise the fundraiser to school and parish families and families may order using the order form or online at http://www.mickman.com/fundraising/.  Evergreen displays are sent directly to the recipient, contain a greeting card customized by you and are guaranteed to stay fresh and green into the New Year.

Giant Foods:  Giant Foods will donate a percentage of your purchases to our school.  To link your bonus card to our school, please go to https://giantfood.com/?DPSLogout=true .  Click on either “Sign In” or “Sign Up” on the top right hand corner of the page.  Follow the instructions to create an account.  Once logged in, hover over the “My Giant Card” tab and click on “A+ School Rewards”.

Gift-A-Book Program:  For $20 you may choose a selection of books our faculty and librarian would like to add to our school library.  A book plate will be placed inside the book and will include your child’s name and for whom the book is in honor/memory of.  Ideas include graduation, birthday, anniversary, gift for teacher, celebration of milestone or achievement.  Click here to download the Gift-A-Book order form.

Harris Teeter:  Harris Teeter will donate a percentage of every purchase of Harris Teeter products you purchase.  This includes all pharmacy purchases and all Harris Teeter, HT, Harris Teeter Organics, HT Traders, Harris Teeter Your Pet, Harris Teeter Your Tot and Harris Teeter Your Home products.

To link your VIC card to our school, please go to http://www.harristeeter.com/ and click on “My HT Login/Signup” located on the top right hand corner of the home page.  Returning users log in.  New Users click on “Sign Up” and follow the instructions and enter your last name, zip code, VIC card number and phone number.  Once your account has been verified, go to “My Dashboard” and click on “My Schools”.  Click on “Add A School” and search by State and City.  Scroll down and go to page three to find and then click on Queen of Apostles.

Spirit Wear:  This year the PTO will offer a variety of Spirt Wear to students and family members.  Products include t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies.  Students love to wear Spirit Wear on Spirit Day.  Certain t-shirts may also be worn on PE days.  Spirit Wear is a great way to show your school spirit and support our school.  Additional details and a Spirit Wear order form will be available in September.
