Volunteering at the School

Family members over the age of 18 are welcome to volunteer at the school. There are many ways to get involved in-person and from home!

All families are required to fulfill at least 25 hours of volunteer service by the end of the school year in June. Families who do not acquire at least 25 hours will be charged $20 per missing hour by June 30, 2027.

In order to volunteer in-person in the school and for all events with children present, it is imperative that all volunteers follow the steps in the compliance process as mandated by the Diocese of Arlington. The steps are below:

  1. Click here to get started then click the blue “Volunteers” button. Create a profile with the Diocese of Arlington and take the online background check. There is no cost and it takes about 20 minutes to complete. It works better on a computer, not a cell phone. Along the way, you will be asked to electronically sign a few documents such as the Code of Conduct and the Policy. Towards the end, please add Queen of Apostles School to your location of activity. The best role to choose is “Volunteer (General)” at the bottom of the dropdown menu. Your profile can easily be updated and changed at any time.
  2. When your background check clears, the Q of A School liaison, Ms. DeMartino, will receive an automatic email letting her know that step is complete. She will print a form for you to sign whenever you are able to stop by the school office to sign it.
  3. Take a VIRTUS class. When you finish the background check, you will receive an automatic email with the list of upcoming classes and instructions on how to register. The VIRTUS class lasts 4 hours and is free of charge. It is best to attend a class within a month or so after taking the background check, but you can take any class that works for your schedule.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to Ms. DeMartino with any questions regarding the compliance process. r.demartino@queenofapostlesschool.org.

Thank you for being so involved in our school and for keeping everyone safe!
