Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to find out how you can support your children’s education by lending your time and talents to our school. Whether you have 30 minutes a week or 30 minutes a month, there is a volunteer opportunity for everyone. Your involvement at Queen of Apostles Catholic School is vital to your child’s education, strengthens our school community, and helps keep our operating costs to a minimum.
All adult volunteers who interact with children must be compliant with the Arlington Diocese Office of Child Protection. The steps to become fully compliant are below:
- 1) Create a profile with the Diocese of Arlington and take the online background check. It is free of charge and takes about 25 minutes to complete. It works better on a computer rather than a cell phone.
- 2) After the background check is complete, Ms. DeMartino will receive an automatic email with a Central Registry Form attached. She will contact you about setting up a time to stop by the school and sign it. She will then submit it to the diocese.
- 3) Also after the background check is complete, you will receive an automatic email from the diocese with information about registering for a VIRTUS class. This is a free, 4-hour long class that all employees and volunteers must take as part of the compliance process. The email will have a list of upcoming classes in the diocese you can sign up for. Choose the class that works best for you and follow the instructions on the email to register for the class.
